We have two pools at Le Clos des Guyons, one  for the gites at Le Clos des Guyons itself and another for the separate accommodation at Le Clos Charmeur.
Both pools are opened in late May.  The one at Le Clos des Guyons is heated and is therefore normally opened several weeks before the one at Le Clos Charmeur.  They are, of course, weather dependant, for example in 2007 we had the heated pool working for most of May but, then in the last week we had to switch off the heater because we had three days unique days of the most appalling weather, the temperature dropping  by over 12°, and the heater was simply not capable of bringing the pool to the balmy 25° it had been previously.
Both pools are of a similar design being above ground but of an attractive wooden design.  At Le Clos des Guyons we elected for this design because (a) we thought it very attractive and (b) we had no choice because of the old wine caves below!!!
At Le Clos Charmeur we kept to the same design because we still thought it was attractive and it also managed to conform to the new pool safety regulations, which came into force in France, without the necessity for unsightly pool fencing   Thus, if you have young children, you can simply remove the steps, and your children are safe.
The pool regulations are basic common sense and are aimed at protecting the pool liners themselves and obviously the health and safety of our guests.  For obvious reason we do not allow young, (non toilet trained) children into the pool but both sets of gite accommodation have an inflatable paddling pool for very young children.
