We can't believe how quickly this week has passed.  We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return to the UK 100% less stressed than on arrival.  In fact, we are so chilled we are frozen.  Many thanks to Brian and Sheila (and Megdog) for their hospitality; the only thing they were unable to do for us was to arrange the weather.  Saying that, however, the sun made an appearance on the final day.  We've enjoyed visiting the surrounding area and hope to return in the Autumn.

Katherine and EdwardThankyou for a splendid week, alarming we have been back home nearly three weeks.  We have been heartily and unreservedly recommending Le Clos des Guyons to anyone who is foolish to ask 'How was your holiday?'  The English weather has been surprisingly kind since our return and we were able to enjoy a bottle of the sparkling rosé in the sunshine this weekend with friends.  It impressed them and brought back happy memories of Le Puy! Best wishes!

Another wonderful week has been spent in Le Puy Notre Dame!  The weather, although not brilliant, has been bright and sunny for the most part and we have been able to breakfast on the sun terrace every day.

As well as joining with other guests in recommending visits to the Zoo at Doué la Fontaine and the Cointreau Museum at Angers, we have lots of things we still want to do in Anjou.  That is the joy of the area, there is always plenty to see and do and, if the weather is kind there is always the pool and a good book!

All the best!

We had a great time here with Sheila and Brian.  Lots of conversation and laughs at the late night drinking on the terrace.  The accommodation and facilities are superb. Your advice in organising our activities was a boon. We will certainly be happy to recommend you to any of our friends.  Who knows we  may turn up again next year if you will have us! Hope you are both soon fit and fully active again.

Une grande vacance! Une experience magnifique! Sheila and Brian have been marvellous hosts, helpful and informative.Wish we were staying another week.

We have had a fantastic two weeks here in 'Le Chenin'.  So relaxing with plenty of aperitifs generously provided by our hosts Sheila and Brian.  Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful.  Our most favourite pastime had to be our evening cycles through the vineyards - just wonderful!

Our best wishes!

A very relaxing and comfortable week made so much better by the helpful Sheila and Brian who are such good hosts.  The speed with which the 'unwind factor' launched in was the proof of this wonderful holiday! The wine education was enhanced by the 'practical' sessions, greatly appreciated.  Really sad to be leaving to return to the 'other world'.

Best wishes and many thanks to all three of you (Megdog nearly got dog-napped)!!

An ideal location for touring and visiting local sites.  You will find everything you need here with Sheila and Brian on hand to respond knowledgably to any of your queries.  We have very much enjoyed the accommodation in 'Le Chenin' and the hospitality of our hosts.  We will have no hesitation in highly recommending Le Clos des Guyons.

Le Clos des Guyons was everything we needed and Brian and Sheila more than anyone could have expected in terms of welcome and warmth.  We have come to know better a part of France which has not yet been spoiled and to appreciate a family of wines as splendid as any produced elsewhere in France.  Shame we could not have packed more of them in the case!  We leave with the fondest of memories. Thank you so very much.

Another wonderful return visit.  Everything has been said by others, but we discovered two lovely restaurants this year, the first one in Saumur, Auberge Reine de Sicile owned by Manuelia et Cedric Poulaine, and the other one in Fontenvraud, La Licorne (the Unicorn) - advise to book in advance for both!  Brian kept us entertained with a 'First-Class Wine Tasting Visit' next door in the village, and as there were two of us with the same christian names in the apartments we became Upstairs Geoffrey and Downstairs Geoffrey !  The weather was really superb and the grape harvest looks good for this year.

Good to see both Sheila and Brian again - Next Year? - Yes!

A bientot.

We would thoroughly recommend Le Clos des Guyons.  From the first minute of our holiday Brian and Sheila have been very welcoming and are highly knowledgeable hosts.  This is a beautiful area with so much to see within close proximity and a week isn't long enough! The weather has been wonderful and the pool and sun terrace came into their own when the going just got too hot!  Best wishes and many thanks.

From the moment we arrived, tired and stressed after a horrible journey and a glass of red wine was put in our hands, we have felt welcomed and looked after here.  Thank you Brian and Sheila.  The week has slipped by very enjoyably relaxing by the pool.  Local visits  we all enjoyed were, eating out at the Creperie Escalier St Pierre in Montreuil Bellay and the 'Wine Tasting Visit' in the village was a real highlight.  Our children have loved the swimming pool and 'Le Sauvignon' is a delight.  Late night drinking with lively conversation really added to a wonderful holiday. Best wishes to you both.

"Dear Brian and Sheila,

Thank you for helping to make this 'the best holiday ever'.

Thank you Sheila and Brian for your welcome hospitality. We have had a very relaxing and enjoyable week, which has gone far too quickly!  The local 'Wine Tasting Visit' was a fantastic experience - we'll make sure we bring the bigger car next time to stock up!  'Le Chenin' is a delightful apartment which we hope to enjoy again and could not recommend highly enough.  Thanks again for making our week in Le Puy such an enjoyable time.  Our best regards!

Thank you for your hospitality throughout the week.  The facilities are superb, as is the area, and the company of the other guests and yourselves.  We have one or two bottles of wine to enjoy at a later date but will return to the region to replenish in October!

Kind regards.

PS.  The Grand Prix Day and BBQ was fantastic!

Thank you very much to Brian and Sheila for making our stay here a really enjoyable one.  You've been such wonderful hosts and 'Le Sauvignon' is such a fantastic apartment.  A week isn't really long enough to explore the area (and the pool) but we gave it our best shot! Highlights of our stay include:- the Monday morning market at Doué la Fontaine; Canoeing on the river Thouet at Montreuil Bellay; the town of Saumur; the fabulous Wine Tasting Tour in the village and, of course, the Boulangerie in Le Puy!  Thanks again for such a great trip.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for a fabulous French experience! 'Le Sauvignon' was splendid, the setting idyllic and all on site activities much appreciated.  Thanks for the daily information, sites to see, local events plus the ever accurate weather information!  We especially enjoyed our  wine tasting experience - Brian is a brilliant guide .... The BBQ was a triumph - the day after relaxing by the pool, thank goodness!

Our second year here and it still doesn't get any better than this - sheer bliss. Cheers to you both. We'll be back in 2007 if you will have us.  Lots of Love Carol, Robert and Dan.

Thank you Sheila and Brian. I've had a lovely time.  I'll miss Meg. Love Dan xxxx

Everything as written above by our 'co-guests'.  This was our first visit and we consider ourselves so fortunate that we got a cancellation.  The accommodation 'Le Chenin' was great and our hosts fabulous.  The BBQ was sensational as was the superb guided tour by Brian to the village winery.

Le Clos des Guyons is a truly wonderful place - don't tell all your friends or we'll never get in!

Many thanks.  A votre santé!

First of all, please accept our apologies for the lateness in sending you our 'thank you' note by e-mail. As usual we returned from holiday very relaxed and wound down thanks to your lovely wine, but it didn't take long to hit the ground running and get caught up in the usual work stuff!  We have sent this note but it in no way truly reflects our gratitude for all that you did to make our holiday so special - personalised wine tour, booking the best restaurant we experienced during our stay in France - I could go on and on.....  Many, many thanks and good luck and best wishes in all that you do in the future!

"And so, thank you again for making our holiday in the Loire Valley a most memorable and enjoyable vacation.  You both made us feel so welcome, particularly on Sunday when we joined your party in the wine chais for the 'Grand Prix Retro', for a delicious BBQ and copious amounts of Lore Valley wine! The accommodation is really well-appointed, we felt as if it was your home and you had just given it over to us for the week!  Every utensil or dish you would ever need, entertainment in your comfortable lounge area, not to mention the fluffy towels in the en-suites which were an added luxury,  but all added to our memorable holiday.  We are still enjoying the lovely wine we purchased and we will certainly have no hesitation in highly recommending your gite to our friends and family.  Thank you both most sincerely once again.  With every best wish".

Thanks for your hospitality.  'Le Chenin' is as good as any we have stayed in.  Brian thanks for the Wine Tour you gave - we are both now experts!  It really is a lovely area around here and we found everybody to be very welcoming wherever we went.  Weather great!  We would recommend your gite to anyone.  Best wishes.

Le Clos des Guyons has provided us with a most pleasant holiday base and especially when half of our London family were able to stay with us for three days.  Incidentally, we are most grateful that you were able to accommodate us all at such very short notice.

Having visited France and, in particular, the Loire Valley region for many years, we now seek our culture among the flora and fauna of the golf courses - which do exemplify the natural beauty of this region, except of course the bunkers!

We had a great time - thank you so much!

After seven years of living in London we wanted a 'Holiday to Remember' before we returned to Australia with Louis, our one-year old son.  You have exceeded our expectations and more!

Thank you so much for the lovely chats, restaurant advice and the fabulous village wine tour.  We will think of you every time we 'crack a bottle'.

Louis would also like to thank you for your thoughtful provision of a high chair, special crockery and unlimited gravel at the front of the apartment to play in.  Best wishes!

We knew from the minute we found you that the Le Clos des Guyons would be a perfect addition to our two monthly journey around France.  The prospect for an idyllic stay on an old wine estate has been fully realized.

Our stay in Le Chenin has been very comfortable.  The apartment is tastefully furnished and accommodates all modern day needs.

Our 'Evening Aperitif' with you was delightful and we enjoyed hearing all about your experiences in undertaking such a huge renovation project.

The wine tastings with yourselves has been a 'rare treat' and we thoroughly enjoyed Brian's Wine Tour and Tasting in the village - a highlight of our stay!

The weather was variable so that we could not take full advantage of the lovely courtyard and gardens had to offer us.  Of course this means we will have to come back!

We had occasion to use one of the easy marked '9 km Walking Trails' and it gave us glimpses into the surrounding villages during the vendage which we would  not have seen from just driving through the area.

Thankyou both so much for your warm hospitality and efforts to make our visit an enjoyable one.

We hope our travels will bring us back this way again.  Best wishes!

We are so appreciative of everything you've done for us during our stay at Le Clos des Guyons.  We have felt so much at home and we've been so comfortable here.

A highlight of our trip was Brian's excellent Wine Tour and Tastings in the local winery!  I know in years to come Keith will be telling stories about the wine processes, the caves and all the memorable wines we have sampled.  That was really a very special morning for us!

I know we will take away with us dinner last night in Saumur.  We loved sharing your Wedding Anniversary with both of you - wonderful food, delightful surroundings and non-stop conversation - all was a special evening.

Again, I want to thank you for keeping the car  whilst we are away in Paris and not to mention the getting us to and from the train station.  It is above and beyond and we give heartfelt thanks.  Thank you for all your hospitality.  Kind regards!

After our visit in August we simply had to return to replenish the wine stocks!

I must say it is a lovely time of the year to visit again.  The region is superb and we have seen things we were unable to see before. We have had some wonderful meals too.  For classical food, we would strongly recommend a visit to the 'Reine de Sicile' and for  traditional the 'Fouees' cannot be missed in Montreuil Bellay!  For gifts we enjoyed the historic city of Angers,  it was superb, particularly 'La Maison d'Adam' Craftsmen's House in the medieval quarter.  All in all, another wonderful week.  Thankyou for  your  warmth and friendship throughout our stay. Kind regards!

You certainly have chosen a beautiful part of the world to call home!  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and a return trip is already on our minds.  Thankyou for your hospitality and introduction to some exceptional wines.   Larry and Karen.

David and I couldn't have found a more wonderful relaxing place for our vacation.  You both shared your knowledge and the area with tremendous warmth. This is our first experience staying in such an apartment which has been to such a high standard. Our hikes in Le Puy Notre Dame and Montreuil Bellay were especially enhanced by the countryside, and chateau which was just splendid.  All will be remembered. Thankyou for everything you have done to make this such a delight for us all.     David and Margy.
